At Blissed Men Project, we believe that mental health is one of the most critical topics to address in today’s fast-paced world. Whether it’s coping strategies for stress, managing anxiety, or exploring the nuances of emotional well-being, mental health affects us all. With the rising global awareness of this issue, there is an urgent need for open and honest conversations that inspire, inform, and offer support. That’s why we’re inviting passionate and thoughtful writers to contribute to our platform by writing about mental health.
We understand that mental health is a broad and sensitive topic, and as such, we have developed specific guidelines to ensure that our platform remains a safe and productive space for readers. If you’re a writer with insights, experiences, or research to share, we encourage you to submit your work following the guidelines below.
Blissed Men project Story Submission Guidelines:
1. Focus on Positivity and Support
While mental health struggles can be challenging to navigate, our goal is to foster hope, resilience, and practical advice. We encourage content that offers solutions, insights, and encouragement. Whether you’re discussing depression, anxiety, or general stress, the tone should always be constructive, never leaving readers feeling defeated or hopeless.
2. Personal Experiences Are Welcome (With Caution)
If you are comfortable, feel free to share personal stories or experiences related to mental health. Readers often find comfort in knowing they are not alone in their struggles. However, we ask that you handle sensitive issues with care and avoid graphic or triggering language. We want your story to inspire and uplift, while remaining mindful of the emotional impact it may have on readers.
3. Do Your Research
Mental health is a complex field, and many readers rely on credible sources for guidance. If your piece touches on specific conditions or treatment methods, ensure that your facts are accurate. Cite reliable sources such as peer-reviewed articles, mental health professionals, or trusted organizations like the American Psychological Association (APA), National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), or the World Health Organization (WHO).
4. Respect Diversity
Mental health manifests differently across cultures, genders, and age groups. We encourage articles that consider diverse perspectives and experiences. Be inclusive in your language, avoid stereotypes, and acknowledge that mental health is not a one-size-fits-all subject. Address the nuances that may arise from cultural differences or societal expectations.
5. Keep It Conversational, Not Clinical
While research and facts are important, we encourage a conversational tone that makes readers feel like they’re engaging with a friend, not a textbook. Mental health is an inherently personal topic, and readers appreciate writing that feels relatable and compassionate.
6. Length and Formatting
We prefer articles between 800-1200 words. Please use subheadings to break up your article for easier readability, and consider including bullet points or numbered lists for practical tips. All submissions should be formatted in Word or Google Docs, and please include links to any studies or articles referenced.
7. Trigger Warnings
If your article touches on sensitive subjects like suicide, self-harm, or abuse, please include a trigger warning at the start of the piece. This allows readers to engage with the content responsibly and on their own terms.
8. Engage with Resources
If appropriate, we encourage writers to include a list of helpful resources at the end of their article. Whether it’s a crisis helpline, a mental health app, or a website for further reading, providing these tools can offer readers practical support beyond your article.
